Wisdom of Elders
Across AmericaTM

Dorothy Height Dr. Dorothy Height, International Civil Rights Leader

A Message from the CEO

“Wisdom of Elders Across America™” is a video series capturing short clips of elders (over 70 year olds) sharing stories related to history such as World War II, The Great Depression, Women’s History, Coming to America, Civil Rights, Discrimination, Jewish American History, and other topics that impacted the “Greatest Generation.”

In 2009 I lost my own father to heart disease. I am 44 and he was 84-- part of this great generation. I had the opportunity to videotape my father talking about being part of the liberation of Dachau, a story I had never heard. What began as a small project has blossomed into a larger initiative and passion to capture important stories before they are gone.

Sarasota, Florida (February 20, 2010)  Sonia Fuentes has rarely felt fear in her life -- a trait she credits to her Jewish immigrant father, who brought his family to America from Germany just before Hitler's genocide began.
