Medical Biography

The greatest gift I have been able to develop through my life is to be a ‘Docere’ - Teacher. The training as a Naturopathic Doctor has enabled me the honor to be with people and share in their stories and to teach them how to take responsibility for their well being.

Teaching and learning go hand in hand, to exemplify this the ancient sage, Ben Zoma said, "Who is wise? He who learns from every person, thus from all my relations I grow wise".

Every dialogue I share with friends, patients and doctors, every action engaged bears a lesson to be learned, an opportunity to gain awareness, which is the beginning of wisdom.

My journey to naturopathic medicine started in 1993 as I was traveling in India. I was at a yoga ashram and took particular notice of their small herbal garden. This was a medicinal herbal garden no bigger than 20 yards by 20 yards and it contained all the medicines for the local village of 3,000 persons! This was an epiphany for me, that in such a small area of land, the earth could offer medicines for so many persons.

When I returned to the United States I began my search for a school that would teach the art and medicine of the herbs. That brought me to the California School of Herbal Studies where I studied for 2 years. I continued on my path to healing and the medical sciences and that brought me to the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon. I earned my Doctorial degree in Naturopathic Medicine and am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor.
