About Joyce

Joyce Sokolik has had more than 30 years working as a medical nutrition therapist and is owner of The Nutrition Connection. Her broad array of experiences will address your unique challenges and concerns. She believes people can learn to nurture themselves with healthy foods and make healthy choices often. This does not mean that sweets and treats need to be eliminated, but rather, they may be eaten in moderation.

Joyce did nutrition research at Harvard University, School of Public Health and Nutrition working on the "Diet-Heart Study" and the "Boston Irish Study". At the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Rutgers Medical School Joyce was s nutrition counselor on the NHLBI, Multiple Risk Factor Intervention Trials (MRFIT). She has taught nutrition at Santa Rosa Junior College and was director of Supermarket Smart Tours. Joyce was a contributing writer to Cardiovascular Disease: Nutrition for Prevention and Treatment and Sports Nutrition: A Guide for the Professional Working with Active People. She has given lectures to The American Dietetic Association, diabetes groups, police associations, medical school students and mothers' groups. She was a consultant to Weight Watchers International and to Yum Brand foods.

Joyce received a Master of Science degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from Simmons College. She is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
