What to Look For in a Reverse Mortgage Lender

By Jill Gromm

Look for a mortgage broker or lender with extensive program knowledge – someone who can answer your questions or is willing to find out the answers for you. Work with someone who specializes in Reverse Mortgages and feel free to interview them. This is a financial decision and you should feel very comfortable and trust the agent you are working with to achieve your financial goals.

Decide whether you would like to work with the Reverse Mortgage professional face to face or over the phone. Either way you can get great results, as long as you are comfortable and it is your decision.

Finally, look for someone who is a member of the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA), this is not a must but just a great benefit. NRMLA is a wonderful non-profit organization that educates their members and keeps them informed of new and pending legislation that will affect your loan.
